Presentations are made by subplots . It's like Salt . It's presence cannot be found but it's absence can be felt . Once a producer decides to make a movie out of a novel by spending millions of USD, he needs to find time to read the novel.
Buy the story . Your screenplay writer should be able to change cultural differences from the story and set it to any part of the world if the story has a universal theme. Make it for a big budget or medium budget by modifying the story. It's just that simple. Change with time . Evolve!

Producer should know that the story is the foundation of every movie. NO story = No producer, No screenplay, No director, No hero, No movie. It's just that simple.

In my opinion producers insisting story writers for the screenplay of their fiction is not right. screenplay is a technical document for movie making , not every writer is specialised in it. There are experienced screenplay writers for that.
Every movie production house Will have in-house screenplay writers and if they cannot modify story and Adapt fiction for screenplay why do they need them ?
Even in the screenplay there is a story . So many movies are made without a screenplay. Without a screenplay it is a time consuming process for movie making . There is nothing like that one cannot make a movie without a screenplay.
Some of the Leading movie production houses and OTT platforms are searching for the best stories or stories with unique concepts from across the world. Do they insist on a screenplay from the story writer? NO . They will spend money on a screenplay writer and he will adapt it for movie production.
I think all the Hollywood movie producers and all the OTT platforms are doing the same thing when they adapt stories based on different cultures. Either they make a movie based on the same country. If not they will adapt the story for a global audience. It's just that simple. Why make it so complicated?
Less than one percent of the movies are adapted from novels. So, you all agree that stories are written by screenplay writers for movie production. Then why more than twenty percent of the movies are FLOP?
1) The screenplay was not movie material.
2) Bad choice of screenplay by producers.
3) The screenplay writer had screwed up the story.
4) Story concept was good but the presentation by the screenplay writer was not good enough for the movie.
5) Director presentation was bad.

Don't trust me! That's the reason not all the same genre or story with the same concept becomes best selling books in the market . The emphasis is on presentation by the story writer.
Don't trust me. If you think that you are a great writer, screenplay writer or ghost writer then go to the bookShop and read a short synopsis on the back cover of a best selling novel. Then try writing the same novel. After that, read the original novel and compare it with the novel you have written based on the same synopsis. If you are a good writer then you should be able to write better than the original novel. If not, you wrote the worst novel.
That's the reason I am saying it's all about the presentation by the original writer. In the film industry they call it 'execution' by the director but we story writers call it ' presentation' .
