Here I am writing about my life at Sri Gopal Nivas lodging house. Chennai.600094.
Having worked for chola Sheraton ( five star hotel in engineering department)
salora international ( Panasonic office automation equipments .sales and
service) E E of Oman ( A C manufacturing company) assembling,
installation/ erections of package units A C ,and Godrej ( franchise) white
goods services technician. How much time it will take me to realize that I
am working for cunt washing company called Sri Gopal Nivas lodging house.

When I joined for work I was a broken man. I thought I would sell my fiction
for movie production and move out of this place. Even after 15 years I
could not sell my fiction for movie production.
Lodge owner Srinivasan turned out to be an ill-tempered and abusive condescending arse hole ( having or showing an attitude of patronizing superiority ) A Few years ago he asked me what do you eat?. Do you know the meaning? It means do you eat shit?
My father spent money for my food and education. He never asked me what
you eat. Now don't say like an idiot “every parents spent money for
children's food and education. In India millions of children are out there
without proper food and no access to education. Just because I take my
salary from him he can abuse me?
Later I started thinking; is Srinivasan my problem? No, I have screwed up my
life. I will sell my fiction for movie production and move out of this
place.
You want to know the reason for his shouting? Before he came to the lodge by 9 or 9.30 am that day I could not close my morning account. He found money missing! All he needs to do is mention the amount he had taken in the day. I will update it.
One of the guests was vacating the room and the other family members were checking in. I paid the vacating guest balance amount. After the guest entered the register I pressed the bell for the room boys. They are always busy watching pirated versions of new movie, porn, chatting on messenger / video call. Whatever they are doing, they should attend manager’s call first. I don't call them for my personal purpose. I press calling bell for guest request. They may need food, clothes pressing or any other work. If room boys are not coming I don't wait for them. If guests are senior citizens I will carry their luggage to their room. In one such occasion after leaving guest in their room I came back to reception. rinivasan was checking the daily collection in the morning.
I failed to enter the amount I had given to the vacating guest in the day book (Credit/debit notebook) later he cross checked and found the cash missing! Any stupid knows if there is shortage of money in the cash box. Check the departure book and you will find missing cash (you busy or failed to enter the amount in the day book) if there is excess money check the advance receipt book. You may have collected money from the guest you were busy or failed to enter cash in the day book. It was a simple mistake on my part but he abused me in front of room boys.
In Fact in 15 years as lodge manager when guests escape without paying extra day charges I had paid from my pocket more than dozen times. . Some of them stay for a few days and one bad morning they abscond without paying bills. It can happen in small lodges. Not every guest maintains a three days advance amount. If you insist on paying three days advance for guests not every guests will take rooms. Ie if a person wants to stay for one day in an AC Room he will have to pay 3000 in advance. Most of them pay for one day. . As a manager I have to constantly check guest's check out time and ask them for additional advance cash if they are extending their stay.
Few days ago he shouted at me again. "Do you have a brain; Am I a
jellyfish to survive 65 years without a brain?
You all have heard about literate assholes. Now read more about him. To insult
further he called upon illiterate workers and asked them what he had said.
They too said the same thing like what Srinivasan had said “Rooms are for
guests, police can use only toilets and bathrooms “. He flared up “Did I
build a lodge for policemen to use? Now the police will show their
characters…. bhala…. bhala.all these things may sound silly to you. These
silly things can blow up out of proportion.
If you go to any lodge you can ask for a room rate card. Rates are
standardized. Only in Gopal Nivas lodge a different rate for different
guests. It has nothing to do with demand and supply. Pure cheating. It's
like a brothel business. You charge according to customers. Bathrooms attached
for one person charge RS 600. Bathrooms attached for one person charge RS 800.
If he is staying half day, charge RS 600/. If he is “utilizing” the room for 24
hours, charge RS 800.
